The Mission
The mission of the Emily Project is to foster awareness about Bovine
Leukemia Virus and empower people with more knowledge. We encourage
those that are interested in finding out more about Bovine Leukemia
Virus to read and investigate our site. The Emily Project site is
a vast reservoir where great information about Bovine Leukemia Virus
resides.

While Bovine Leukemia Virus is not the main cause nor the only
cause of cancer, we can not ignore that BLV has been discovered
in some female breast tissues. Such discovery then raises the concern
about a possible link between the human consumption of beef and
dairy products containing BLV and the development of cancer in humans
and animals. On April 1, 2003, the day Emily died, the World Health
Organization projected that by 2020 the cancer rate will be 50%higher
then our present rate. Currently, the cancer rate in dogs is 46%
and 39% in cats. They are our "canary in the coal mine"
as they age 6 times faster than humans. Therefore, it is believed
that the cancer rate for humans, dogs and cats will be close to
50% by 2020.
We encourage anyone who is interested to learn more and help our
research initiative to join us, either through research effort or
financial funding.
